I modeled a simple 3-D beam (silicon probe) in abaqus and want to find the breakage force probe (force applied in the middle). However, no matter how much forces I applied, the probe will not break. I was told that a bucking force is needed, but I dont know how to do this in Abaqus 6.7.
Also, i want to use dispacement controlled %26quot;buckling%26quot;:Apply a displacement instead of a force, and retrieve the reaction forces and get a graph of the forces over displacement. I have no idea how to do this, please help.
Thank you
Abaqus - break a probe (buckling force) and get the force-displacement plot?
I don%26#039;t have specific experience with Abaqus, but here is some food for thought:
-It is absolutely critical that boundary conditions are properly defined.
-If you are interested in buckling/breaking simulation, you will need to use a non-linear solver.
-It is probably best to just do it linearly and then use appropriate theoretical failure theories to determine if the loads and stresses from your simulation will cause failure in yeilding or buckling.
